Q: How many people fit on a Duffy Electric Rental boat?
All of our rentals accommodate 10 people total (regardless of age or size).
Q: Do you allow dogs on the boats?
Unfortunately, we cannot allow any dogs on our rental boats, regardless of size. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Q: Does Duffy Boats have any food, drinks or merchandise available?
We have bottled water available, but don’t offer any other food or beverage. You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks to enjoy on the boat. We currently don’t have any merchandise for sale.
Q: How can I purchase a Duffy Boat Gift Card?
We sell gift cards in our rental office. If you are not able to come in, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we can make arrangements to mail the gift card to you.
Q: Is the boat easy to drive and how old do you have to be?
You must be 21 years old to rent a Duffy Boat. Our boats are as easy to drive as a golf cart and they have a top speed of 5pm. Before you depart, we provide a detailed map of the Newport Harbor, explain the boundaries and popular routes, and cover how to operate the boat.
Q: Do you provide life jackets?
Yes, we have life jackets for all ages. Children 12 and under are required by law to wear a life jacket while on board. Infants in a car seat or baby carrier are not required to wear a life jacket, however, we still provide you with one to have on board. All adult life jackets are stowed underneath the seat cushions.
Q: Is there music on the boat?
Every Duffy Electric Boat rental has a stereo system on board, complete with radio and Bluetooth for connecting to your Bluetooth enabled devices.
Q: Where do we park?
We have free parking at our location, however, space is limited so carpooling is highly recommended. If our on-site lot is full upon arrival, street parking may be available, or there is metered parking at the large public lot across Pacific Coast Highway, located at 208 Tustin Avenue (the “Avon Lot”).
Q: What time should I show up to my reservation?
We recommend arriving 20 minutes before your reservation time in order to get checked in and find parking.
Q: What can I bring with me?
You are welcome to bring any food or beverage—and if you bring a cooler, we’ll supply the ice!
Q: Will I get cold on the boat?
All of our Duffy Electric Boat rentals have full window enclosures that can be opened or closed depending on your comfort. With all of the windows closed, our boats stay extremely well insulated and warm. And of course, you are more than welcome to bring blankets along with you for your cruise.
Q: Will my kids have fun?
Absolutely! Duffy Electric Boats is a very kid-friendly environment! We have activity books filled with coloring pages and a fun “I Spy…” game—and they can enter into our monthly coloring contest as well! The Harbor is filled with exciting sights including various sea life, regular sailboat races, commercial fishing boats, and even a Ferris wheel at the Fun Zone!
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for our standard rentals. If your reservation is not cancelled prior to 24 hours before your scheduled rental time, you will be charged in full.
Q: Can I load and/or decorate the boat while I wait for the rest of my party to arrive?
You will not be able to access the boats until everyone in your party is present and you are ready to depart the dock. Due to limited functional dock space, if any portion of your party is going to be late, you may load the boat, depart the dock, and then return to the dock to pick them up when they arrive—you may not sit on the boat at the dock and wait. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
