Turning the Chicago River green with electric boat fleet

Making the Chicago River green is not just for St. Patrick’s Day anymore. The folks behind the Chicago Electric Boat Co. are banking on eco-tourism on the river to deploy a fleet of small electric rental boats.

“It offers people a great alternative to enjoy the river in an environmental way,” says Ron Silvia, President of the Chicago Electric Boat Co.

Located at the base of the Marina City towers, the CEBC has one 22-foot boat and five 18-foot boats that produce no noise or emissions. The boats fit ten people, with one passenger doubling as captain.
